The Opening Tip Off

I must admit I have never made or written in a blog before so bear with me.

I'd like to start by sharing the background of how the idea came for me to start writing this blog.  My husband, Neal, and I have been married now for almost 5 months (lovin' it).  About 2 weeks before getting married Neal was offered the job as the assistant men's basketball coach at Goshen College (a small NAIA school) in small-town Goshen, IN.  Thus, after the wedding and honeymoon we both moved to a new town and started new jobs and I had to jump head first into being the wife of a coach.  Now, many people gave me forewarning before we got married, saying "ohhhh, get ready to never see your husband,"  I thought to myself things such as, "yeaaa right" and "I love sports so how could I not love being a coaches wife 100% of the time."  Well people, even though I hate to admit it... some of you may have been right.  As much as I absolutely adore my husband and love sports, especially the game of basketball, the nights and weekends without my husband, constant schedule changes, and the disappointment of a loss can at times be hard.  So after coming home multiple nights after teaching and spending some nights alone watching TV, my husband suggested I start a blog.  My desire for this blog is for all of us coaches wives to share our stories, insights, ups and downs of our husbands being married to THE GAME. If you would like your story or comment posted on this blog, please e-mail your response to maggie.young4@gmail.com and I will post it as soon as I can.

With all that being said, I must say.... I love going to his games and getting to live in his life of passion and excitement for the game, the team, and the players.  I love being there, the number one fan cheering not for the players but for the coach.

What to look forward to:   The unwritten rules of being a coaches wife.
